HPE Servers Support & OS Certification Matrices state that the 5th generation of this CPU requires RHEL 8.8 or later.
How or where do I find what "generation" the CPU is? For a specific product, we use RHEL 8.6 and the site has 4 servers with the above CPU, but not sure what generation.
Thanks,
/J

SolutionFrom Intel Support page
The first digit of the four-number sequence indicates the processor level
Processor Level
8,9 Platinum
6 Gold
5 Gold
4 Silver
3 Bronze
Second digit indicates the processor generation
Processor Generation
1 1st Generation
2 2nd Generation
3 3rd Generation
4 4th Generation
Third and fourth digits indicate the SKU number
These numbers do not represent any specific feature. In general, the better processor has a larger SKU number.

Re: P49598-B21 Intel Xeon-Gold 6426Y 2.5GHz 16-core 185W Processor for HPE
Hello,
The respective server's QuickSpecs would list the supported processors, from which you may determine the generation of processor needed.
