Parallel port settings with BIOS

Hi, I've a COMPAQ ML370 with SuSE Linux and a Printronix 300 LPM parallel printer; and everythink works fine; but the parallel port is rather slow; I changed from polling to IRQ to have better access; now I want to use DMA too, but I don't know where can I change the prallel pot settings at BIOS; the only choices I've found were: "LPT1, IRQ7", "LPT3, IRQ7" and "Disabled".

How can I enhance/increase the parallel port speed (I mean, change the parallel port type from Normal to ECP or EPP?).

Thanks,
Jean H//
