Patching
Hello all,
I am seeking some advice on the best practises in performing a patching operation on two ProLiant 3000s running 4.11.
I have been out the picture with regards to NetWare (hold my CNE in 5.0) due to my Cisco & win2k studies.
What I am looking to do;
1. Alter IRQ settings (NIC current set on 9 on one server & tape (cpqscsi.ham) set to 15 on other server).
2. Upgrade firmware; sys bd, smart 2dh, maybe (if required 35/70 DLT)
3. Upgrade f10 partition (system partition).
4. Install Novell support pack 9.
5. Install Compaq NSSD (v6.30).
6. Install GroupWise 5.5 support pack 4.
Optional - Install UPS software (servers connected to a r3000 UPS) via single serial cable.
I am proficient in Compaq hardware and hold ASE & ASE Pro certs (in NT).
Where I need the help; I am planning to carry this out over a Saturday (Sunday to address problems if needed), but need to be in an operational state by Monday morning.
Is my time frame (window) realistic? And has anyone carried a patching operation of this scale in a single day.
Are there any gotchas with the NetWare / Compaq patching.
