PCI express

We have a Proliant DL380 G5.
We are having problems whenadding
PCI express cards into slot 2. The card
does not link-up or get recognized.
Are there any issues with PCI express slot 2?
Is slot 2 on the Intel ESB chip or Intel
MCH chip?
