Perflib errors on DL380 G3 & extctrlst
There's a known problem on DL380 G3 servers with the Smart Start 6.2 software on Windows 2000 Server. The software causes Perflib errors (event id's 1010, 1015, 1017, 2002) to get logged in the Event Viewer Application log. Compaq's Knowledge Base documents suggest downloading Microsoft's exctrlst utility from the Resource Kit, to mark tcpip, and reboot. They also suggest manually unloading and reloading the counters from a command line and to increase the Perfdisk Performance Open Timeout value. On 7 of the 9 servers, the 'tcpip' option in the Extensibe Counter List in the exctrlst utility does not stay marked after a reboot and the errors continue to get logged. Is there a way to force this change?

Re: Perflib errors on DL380 G3 & extctrlst
I keep getting the same thing on two servers. My log counters remain unchecked, but I still get the errors in the App event log.

Re: Perflib errors on DL380 G3 & extctrlst
Suggest you run those event ID numbers through the search function at www.eventid.net (go there and click on search events near the upper left of the page. There are usually resolutions in the write ups. I'd also suggest you look at Microsoft Knowledge Base articles as referenced in the write ups for each event ID at eventid.net. Note that eventid.net hasn't updated their references to KB articles to drop the Q prefix that Microsoft abandoned yet, but if you just ignore the Q and use the number portion only, you'll get to the right KB article. We were having the same issue with event ID 2003, and I was able to resolve it with the instructions in KB article 267831 as referenced in the write-up at eventid.net.

Re: Perflib errors on DL380 G3 & extctrlst
I have (had) the same problems with some servers DL380 G3 and ML 370 G3..
I tried this successfully, from this moment it was silence...
Control Panel >COMPAQ Management Agents >Tab "Services" >Move "Performance Monitor" from ActiveAgents box to InactiveAgents box >OK Restart the Agents as requested.
Thats it !
This is related to Agents Vers. 6.20, HP Network Teaming is enabled on the 380 G3 Server.
Maybe this is also a solution for your problems ?
Good luck, Martin
