Performance problems with DL380G4 and MS SQL Server 2005

Hi, we have performance problems with SQL Server 2005 on a HP DL 380 G4 (2 Xeon dual core 2,8 GHz, 4 GByte, Windows Server 2003). Our queries are much slower (50 - 100%) than on a HP DL 380 G3 (2 Xeon non-dual-core 3,2 GHz, 2 GByte, Windows 2003 Server, SQL-Server 2000). Does anyone have experiences with this configuration or any idea what could be the problem? Microsoft says that SQL Server 2005 has to be much faster that SQL Server 2000 with this configuration. We tested on booth systems with the same database and the same queries.
Any idea?

Would it be worth changing the READ/WRITE cache values on the Smart Array 6i embedded controller of the DL380G4?

Does the G4 have the same or more raid cache than the G3? Worth Checking.

You can set the cache to be more biased towards READ or WRITE intensive applictions like Oracle and SQL. For example it can be set to 75%/25% READ/WRITE or 75%/25% WRITE/READ - depends on what SQL requires -Sorry I don't know SQL.
This can be done on the fly using ACU and doesn't require a reboot.

I don't know if this is part of your problem but it should be easy to eliminate.

Hi, the same problem occured with my server, we were also using a G3 DL380 and switched to G4 DL380, a proposed solution is to disable the hyper threading of the processors, I was unable to find any logic for this but it did work and if you could find any reason of this then plz share, thankyou.
