Physically Moving a Server
Are there guidelines on what to do before physically moving a Proliant DL server in order to prevent hardware damage? Perhapse instructions on parking the read disk heads and similar things?
TIA,
David.

Re: Physically Moving a Server
Hi David!
As I know, parking of disk heards is being when gracefully shutdown complete. I recommend separate disk and server for preventing damage of backplane.

Re: Physically Moving a Server
I agree. Disk head parking should automatically occr when disks are powered down.
Wrapping drives separately in bubble-wrap (make sure to label each one so can replace into correct slots at destination!)
will be a good idea too.
