Power On Failure - SCSI Cable Error

Hi,

A Cable Error problem occurs while powering on the server.
I got a ADR30gb (SCSI) tape streamer wired up to the external scsi connector a the backside of the case. It seems that this is due to the tapestreamer itself, since when i disconnect the tapesteamer from the cable the machine doesn't generate the error while booting up.

Although the system did boot up a few times (i'm not rebooting my server each day..) with the exact same configuration as for now.

I though that the streamer was damaged, but if i wired it up to a workstation, the workstation boots, and the machine (pc & streamer) works without any problem.

What can generate this error ? My SCSI tapestreamer is at SCSI-ID 2; hardware terminator is activated. I already tried to change the scsi-id unfourtunately without ANY results.

Please a reaction...

Re: Power On Failure - SCSI Cable Error

Terminatin could be involved - if you're still having the problem email support@compaq.com or call 1-800-ok-compaq.
