Pro Liant DL380G7 - How can I delete an full SEL Log

Hello guys

We have a Server DL380G7 with ESX4.1 installed.
The Server has 96GB RAM and one DIMM Ram
was broken last week.
We replaced the broken DIMM with a new one and now the red LED on the front of the Server
switched to Green and everything looks well.

After Replace of the RAM we did a Insight Diagnostic Scan from the 96GB Memory over ILO-Board with the newes Insight Diagnostic.

The Memory Scan shows now always the following Error:
Correctable ECC Events logging limit reached in SEL log. Device, run on CPU0.

Does anybody know how and where we can delete this full SEL log???

I was looking in System BIOS but could not find this option.

Thank you for help.

Re: Pro Liant DL380G7 - How can I delete an full SEL Log

Hi,

I don't think there is an option in RBSU to clear "system event log"

I would suggest login into iLO and check/clear IML Log.

Thanks.

Re: Pro Liant DL380G7 - How can I delete an full SEL Log

Hello

Thank you for your answer.

We cleared already the IML Log over ILO-Board.
This doesn't help!

The error still appears if we scan with Insight diagnostic.

Hi Ben,

HP Insight Diagnostics User Guide
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00293061.pdf
Refer to page# 26-27
To remove the Error log entries, click the Clear Error Log button.

Have you tried this?

Thanks

Re: Pro Liant DL380G7 - How can I delete an full SEL Log

Hello An

This button deletes just the Error on the Screen!

If we run Insight Diagnostig Memory ECC Check again, the same Error appears again

:-(

Somewhere must be a Chip who is full now I think.

Hi Ben,

same here! :-(
I agree that it seems like there's a chip somewhere which is full.

So does anybody know where to find (and clear) this mysterious "SEL log"?

Thanks a lot and many greets from Germany

Re: Pro Liant DL380G7 - How can I delete an full SEL Log

Hello Stephan

To solve the Problem with the full SEL Log we did the following actions:

1.) Remove the CMOS Battery on the Systemboard off the Server

2.) Set the System Maintenance Dipp Switch Number 6 to "On"

3.) Start the Server and let it Run for 3 minutes

4.) Set the System Maintenance Dipp Switch Number 6 to off

5.) Leave the Server without Power for 30 seconds

6.) Put the CMOS Battery back to the Server on the System board.

FINISH.

This Action clears everything, inclusing the SEL Log .

Attention .... the ILO Board is cleared too with this process.

Good Luck !

Benjamin
