Problem with HP Smart Array 641

I have a ML330 G3 Series Proliant Server. Installed is a HP Smart Array 641 with 2 36GB SCSI Drives. I want to be sure i did this correctly..
The only option, with this setup, show me one option " Raid 0 ", i do RAID 1 but dont enable for this configuration. I need a mirror, please helpmee.

Do either of these drives have an existing RAID configuration? Were they ever configured as a RAID 0 or did they at one time belong in another Array?

Do you have both drives attached to the SmartArray 641? Does each drive have a unique SCSI ID?

Hi, John..

both drives attached to the SmartArray 641 and each drive have a unique ID , but first it installs a disc in the SmartArray 641 and configuratedms: created logica unit and you specify raid 0, but single connected 1 scsi. After i installs the operating system and it configutatedn it, now I want to do array type MIRROR but in the utilitarian one it does not give the option me to put a raid 1, sorry for my english....this is urgent!!

You are wanting to do a RAID Level Migration from RAID 0 to RAID 1. I can see your problem but it is difficult to expalin.

Online RAID Level Migration:
With the ACU, you can easily reconfigure a logical drive to a new fault-tolerance (RAID) level online. Change the RAID level to any other RAID level without disrupting system operation or causing data loss.
There are two circumstances which will require additional space: a RAID 0 to RAID 1, 4, or 5 change; or a RAID 4 or 5 to RAID 1 change.

What this means to you, is that the RIAD Migration requires more space on the RAID 1 than the original RAID 0 volume has available. The RAID conversion process needs space to work in and just the two drives do not have the space needed.

I hate to say the easiest fix to gain more space is to build a new array (RAID 1 with two disks) and migrate manually the data to the new array or backup the system to tape and rebuild the system as a RAID 1 and restore the data from tape.

An alternative, I do not recommend, is to expand the existing RAID 0 with the new disk and then expand the volume within your O/S.
