Problem with upgrading Proliant ML150 G3 memory from 2GB to 3GB

I have just tried to upgrade my ML150 G3 from 2GB to 3GB, by taking out 2x512MB (part number 398705-051) and installing 2x1GB (part number 397411-B21, but after restarting it still shows only 2GB!

The configuaration was slots 1&2 512MB each and slots 3-4 1GB each.

If I interlace them (slot 1&3 512MB , slot 2&4 1GB) will it work?
