Problems adding Adaptec 39160
Proliant 5500 W/ Smart-2DH
NW6SP2
I installed a 39160 and the server was unable to identify the card, so I manually loaded the drivers succesfully. When I rebooted the server I got a Kernal Halt error. I went into the server setup and disabled all devices not being used and made sure there were no IRQ conflicting. The server would still give me a Kernal Halt on boot up. If I delayed loading of the drivers then the system would boot fine, but hours later what ever is attached to the card will deactivate.
Any ideas,
Joel

Re: Problems adding Adaptec 39160
Hi Joel;
You may need to deactivate the BIOS on the 39160 to allow it to be correctly configured by the NVRAM on the PL5500.
Consult your documentation from from Adaptec on how to do this.
What are you attaching to the 39160? Any reason you can't use the 53c87x on board?
Sincerely,
Janine

To get results you've never had before, try something you've never tried before.

Re: Problems adding Adaptec 39160
I did disable the BIOS. I had to do that in order to boot off of the RAID controller. The reason for using the Adpatec is because I need LVD.
Thanks,
Joel
