Problems installing Windows NT Workstation 4.0

I am having troubles trying to install Windows NT Workstation 4.0 in a Proliant ML350 with 2 processors PIII 733 MHz and 1 9.1 GB SCSI Hard Disk.

This configuration comes from factory.

I tried the SmartStart 4.70 and the only options that gives to me is for Windows NT Server, 3.51, etc. but none of NT Workstation 4.0

When I try to install it manually it does not recongnize any drive but it recongnizes the SCSI controller.

What can I doing wrong ?

Can you specify to me in detail how to install NT Workstation 4.0 into a ProLiant ML350 with the SCSI controller I have ?

Please note I have 1 original CD of Microsoft NT Worstation 4.0 and 1 CD that cames with the server labeled Compaq CD for Microsoft Windows NT Workstation 4.0 Operating System.

Many thanks in advance.

Re: Problems installing Windows NT Workstation 4.0

Workstation is not really a server OS, so Smartstart doesn't cover that...

You have to do a manual install from Smartstart (configures hardware, loads System Config - lets you reboot into NT CD). When you boot from the CD (or use the disks), make sure you press F6 (repeatedly - if necessary) when NT Detect is going. This should allow you to get into "Custom" setup mode. Then skip detection on the mass storage controllers and specify an unlisted controller as primary. Use our NT 4.0 SSD for the driver (Integrated Array). Then specify a secondary controller and use the IDE/Atapi driver from NT itself. This should get you past that issue...
