Processor failure

I have a Proliant 5500 Server with 2 PIII 500 MHz Xeon Processors in Slot 1 and Slot 2, recently I observed a message during POST, "Processor 1 failed 212 error". I did some troubleshooting so I changed Processor 1 and the Power Module to Slot 3 (bear in mind the board supports 4 Processors) and the message did not appear again. One would think the Processor Slot is defective but its not. Why? So I changed the System Board and the same message appeared when the Processor is in Slot 1, when changed to Slot 3 (new board installed), its working fine, no message, don't you find that a little strange?

Re: Processor failure

Most of the time the error message of 212-processor failure is false. Go into the F10 partiton and you should get a dialogue box ask if this has been repaired. Say yes and save and exit and it should go away. Also make sure you are using the latest BIOS. SP18320.
