Proliant 1850 and 221 Array Controller
I am trying to get my old 1850R to recognise a 221 Smart array controller. Using SmartStart the controller is not recognised.
The controller was working fine in another server, so I think its OK. At least it should be recongnised.
The 1850R is fine. I can set it up with SmartStart just fine using the embedded SCSI controller.
I vaguely remember something about needing to install drivers with a diskette, but for the life of me I can't find anything on the web.
Can anyone remember how to do it?
Thanks

Re: Proliant 1850 and 221 Array Controller
You didn't say which OS you had loaded on the 1850R, but the 221 drivers can be downloaded from the following location:
http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/storage/us/family/model/5147.html?cc=usтМй=en
Both the PII and PIII models of the 1850R list this controller as supported. Good luck.

Re: Proliant 1850 and 221 Array Controller
Thanks. After a bit of trial and error I discovered that the board holding the PCI cards was not seated firmly. I pushed it back in and bingo, the 221 controller is recognised by SmartStart straight away.
Sometimes I think it would be easier just to buy a new server, but the 1850 is still pretty handy.
