Proliant 5000 cannot see dual processors
I have a Proliant 5000 with two processors, 2 HDs, 9.1 GB each, and 383MB RAM. A few days ago I was trying to install Linux and I erased the board memory (stupid me.) Since then the board cannot see the second processor (in fact, the first(P1))
I have tried SCU and flashing a new Rompaq, but nothing works. I have even tried the switch 6 to erase the board memory and configuring th board. When the computer starts it displays 2 processors initialized. The same when I try the Test Utility and "Inspect it." When I try the "Test," though it shows the first processor as "disabled" -which is what Linux (I use Knoppix with SMP) sees also.
The funny thing is that Linux runs o.k.. But it cannot see the processors.

Re: Proliant 5000 cannot see dual processors
You can try out one option go to scu then go to the advance mode and make the 1st cpu as set cpu corrected and then restart the server and check it up.

Re: Proliant 5000 cannot see dual processors
Now, on the SCU. That seems an excellent idea! But how do I get the advanced mode? I have the SCU 4.03 version, which doesn't seem to offer such a capability (buth then I didn't look too carefully for such.)
I thank you both for your replies.
All the best

Re: Proliant 5000 cannot see dual processors
What happened was when I initially run the SCU, after I erased the system, I had set the OS to MS-DOS! Of course, MS-DOS runs only on one processor!
I set it to NT (but I am sure that UNIX would have been the same) and now it works.
Incidentally, I had run SCU and on Step 3 it does not allow you to change processor parameters.
Not a problem for Einstein - but it drove me nuts for a whole day.
Thanks for the help.
