Proliant 6000 - No POST, No Fans, Nothing

have a Compaq Proliant 6000 (Pentium Pro). This machine has dual PP200 processors, dual power supplies, 3 x 9.1Gb U/W Scsi HDD.

Problem is that I cannot get the machine to turn on. I get the usual display on the Management Display (Compaq LCD Model 06522, version 1.9)

I have taken the machine back to one processor, default memory, taken out and reseated all boards and connectors. I canopt get the system to power on. All covers are secured, so no sensor problem. The top PCI/Eisa board has one green light, I can see no lights on the processor board (not sure if there are any!)

Any assistance would be gratefully accepted.

Hi,
According to my experience,if PL6000 can't turn on,always sensor problem and install option improperly,I recommend:
1.Removed all option and reseated,include array card,NIC...,memory board and fixed barrier especially,rotate all of amber screw to tight.
2.Both of sidewalls and top cover need close
3.If you have DLT or DAT seated in removable media bays,please pay attention to rotate any fixed barrier properly.

All boards removed and reseated. All connectors checked. All sensors checked, Machine has been taken back to single processor and memory. Thanks for your response, but these have already been checked out. Any more ideas.

The 6000s have an interlock, which is basically sensors that prevent it from powering on if it senses the case is open or something is not properly seated.
I've seen two different models, one with Xeon processor and one without. The 6000 I have that has a Xeon has a orange led on the system board on the top of the server. It comes on when there is an interlock sensor that is tripped. If you look, it actually say "interlock" next to the led but you probably need a magnifying glass to read the wording.
The other non-Xeon processor 6000s I have don't have this led (I think) but the same concept still applies. Keep in mind that you NEED to have all the covers back in place and secure. Years ago, I spent hours troubleshooting the same issue until I discovered that the entire case needs to be in place and secure for the server to power up. Something as simple as the memory board not being secure with the retaining screw can trip this sensor. Good Luck!
