Proliant 800(p14) and Windows 2000 Professional
I am trying to install W2Kpro on a functional and nicely equipped PL800(p14) and I can't get the install off the ground. W2K CD won't boot and after the floppies, keeps asking about an EULA file. This is not a problem on other machines. Also, RHLinux 9.0 installs w/o hitch and NT4.0WS installs if I let it).
I have the latest ROMpaq (11/08/2000) and SmartStart 5.0.
The machine is being discarded as a server but is still functional - a shame to dispose of. Am I wasting my time?

Re: Proliant 800(p14) and Windows 2000 Professional
Hello,
Even though Worstation OS is not supported on this server you can go ahead with the manual installation and specify the drivers of the array controller during the hw discovery. How the performance is going to be Not sure.

Re: Proliant 800(p14) and Windows 2000 Professional
BTW, I am only interested in running Win2Kpro, not Linux or NT or W2K server on this particular box at this time.
Somehow, it boots from SmartStart and Linux CDs but not W2K; if I boot from W2K floppies I get the "missing EULA" as it goes for the CD and then it exits.
Also, I think there is no array controller, unless it is on the mtoherboard -- no PCI controller.

Hello,
You can surely use a smart start cd(upto 5.50 only) and choose the manual method of installation. I remember a client had done this a couple of years back.
