Proliant DL320 and NetWare 6.0

Ok... heres the situation.

Trying to install NetWare 6.0 w/SP3 on a non supported DL320 G1. I was finally able to get the IDE drivers to load, but as soon as the network drivers attempt to load the system hangs. N100.LAN is what the OS defaults to. As far as I can tell those are the right drivers. The server does not have a gig nic.

Any ideas? Something I may be missing? Thanks....

N100.LAN is the right driver.

Here are some jumping-off points to troubleshoot with:

When is N100.LAN hanging? During the NetWare OS install or after? Can you ALT-ESC to the server console to see what the error message is? What version of N100.LAN are you using? (7.03 is not good; 6.38 is recommended) Can you install the server without joining a tree? In that case you can skip the Network driver load during install and run CPQDPLOY afterwards.

Are you using an overlay CD? (I don't recommend it....)

You're right, the OS is not supported on this server, but it should be the storage drivers that give you grief, not the NIC.

Hope that helps,

Janine

You're right. I do have an overlay CD w/SP3. It installed further than the older Netware 6 w/o any service packs.

Yes the LAN driver is 7.03. I'll try the older 6.38. I've tried to skip the installation of the NIC but it doesn't allow me to go past that point. Not really trying to join a tree, I'm trying to create a new server in a new tree.

ALT-ESC doesn't work when the LAN driver hangs on loading either. I have to press the power button. Thanks for the help... let me know if ya have any other clues.
