Hello,
For some reason I came back in today after the weeekend, and the fans on my ProLiant DL380 Gen10 are unusally loud. I checked all the ILO settings and everything is green and nothing is running hot. Not sure what could be the issue? Everything is HP equipment within the server and nothing has been touched in over a year physcially to the server. And of course the warrenty has expired on the server.
Thank you in advance.

Re: Query: ProLiant DL380 Gen10 Fans Loud
Hi theKtechex
As per my opinion, there is basicly three reason for FAN loudliness.
1. system temparature going to high.
While ambient temprature going high, for any reason, server trying to make it self cool and FAN speed is going high.
2. FAN failure
While any of FAN module getting faulty or slowing down for any reason, other FAN modules trying to fullfill its absent or efficiencies.
3. Firmware issue
Some time I observed that FAN speed going high and all parameters are okey condition, it is observed that firmware version issue.
in that case firmware upgradation to latest requaired.
So please check, what is the reason for your server FAN utilization high. Also request you to keep your server firmware on updated.
For system software and firmware updates, use one of the following sources:
- Download the SPP from the Hewlett Packard Enterprise website (https://www.hpe.com/servers/spp/download).
- Download individual drivers, firmware, or other system software components from the server product page in the Hewlett Packard Enterprise Support Center website (https://support.hpe.com/connect/s/product?cep=on&kmpmoid=1010026818&tab=manualshttps://www.hpe.com/support/hpesc).
I think it will help to isolate your server issue.
Thanks & Regards...
Rabindra
