As a beginner with HPE Proliant hardware i recently purchased a DL380 Gen9 server with a single 8xSFF drive cage and a preinstalled P440AR smart array controller(749974-B21)
I have now added an additional 8xSFF drive cage and after plugging it into the mainboard 4xSATA ports noticed that they arent visible in the ILO interface and none of the status indicators on the drive caddies are ligthing up.
Does this mean i need to install another smart array controller? if so which can i install to resolve this issue?
Using the Storage Controllers compatability list doesnt tell me quite as much as i would like.
Any advice or tips is greatly appreciated.

SolutionHi,
the P440ar supports up to 8 Drives. I assume they are now connected with 2 Cables on Box#1.
I assume you have Box#2 cabled to the On-Board SAS connector.
This connects to the On-Board B140i Controller, which only supports SATA Drives.
You can connect Box#2 to the P440ar by adding a SAS Expander 727250-B21.
HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen9 Server
Alternate add a second Raid Controller.
