Proliant ML 350 memory Configuration

I have a Server ProLiant ML 350 G5 I am trying to use just 4 slots of 512 MB but it seems that it needs the 8 slots.

What makes you make this assumption? Doesn't it boot with four slots filled, do you get errors, etc...

check if you're doing in the best way
installing the memories in the correct slots o banks
