ProLiant ML30 Gen9 inaccessible boot device

Hello, I have a problem with a ProLiant ML30 Gen9 where it won't always boot. Running Windows server 2016 and it fails to boot saying inaccessible boot device. Trying to run repairs on MBR or check system files but I cannot see the system drive. If I keep restarting the Server either by running repairs or power cycling it eventually will boot but the next time I reboot windows it is back to the same error inaccessible boot device.

I am stuck now because I just cannot get it to boot. Help please

Thanks in advance

Re: Query: ProLiant ML30 Gen9 inaccessible boot device

Hello, no the system isn't slow posting to boot it simply won't boot and gives a BSOD with Inaccessible Boot Device. If I keep rebooting eventually it doesn't BSOD and will boot but next time I restart the server it will BSOD with the same error.

I forgot to mention it is running 2x SATA 2tb hard drives in raid 1

Hi,

This could be a problem with some Drivers or Firmware.
Have you tried updating the drivers and firmware?

Re: ProLiant ML30 Gen9 inaccessible boot device

Hello,

The possibility here could be OS corruption or it is a HW issue.

Recommend you to Delete the array and re-create the array and re-install the OS after updating the latest SPP for Gen9

Also if the issue is not fixed, please log a case with HPE to investigate further from the Hardware side.

Re: ProLiant ML30 Gen9 inaccessible boot device

Not sure how the OS could be corrpupt if repeated reboots allow it to boot eventually?

We cannot delete the array because the server is in use and cannot have any down time rebuilding it. We need to find a solution to fix the problem rather than reinstalling the OS

Hi,

To check from the Hardware , please log a case with HPE Support Team.

Simultaneously, please check with your OS vendor for OS related issues.

Thanks,

Can you share a ML30 gen9 me ROM bin backup file? There seems to be a problem with my machine. I need a me ROM, which is the one next to Nanqiao on the motherboard. If there is a programmer to read it, it's ok if there's no one. Thank you
