As long as you can get a sound card which will work in 3.3V slot then there should be no problems. There is also another solution for you which is why not buy EXTIGY by Creative Labs. That has a USB connector and same is your server. That should definitely take care of your sound issue since that is an external sound card box. But EXTIGY by Creative Labs is expensive for me.
Can You name some sound cards that works on 3.3V PCI slots?
I already found Diamond Monster Sound MX300, based on Aureal Vortex AU8830 chip, and read in specification, what this card may work on 3.3V and 5V (and have both keys on PCI plug), but after install MX300 in ML310 - server don't turn on.
