Is there a BIOS restriction preventing me from upgrading my entry level ProLiant ML310e Gen8 v2 CPU from a i3-4130 to a Intel Xeon E3-1220 v3 ?
Based on the specs sheet for this server, the above Xeon processor is compataible. However, i recently installed the mentioned Xeon and my system is failing to boot. The system POST then crashes to black screen when iniatilizing processor without any warning tones.
I upgraded to latest BIOS and the issue persists
System ROM P78 03/28/2014

Which brands memory is it? Is it the same memory you were using earlier with the old processor without any problems?
