proliant ml310e gen8 v2 new HDD
Hello.
We have installed a new 4TB hdd attached to the internal sata port to avoid the raid controller, and it is showed in ILO info as phisical drive in phisical view, but it is not showed in disk management. The system is Windows Server 2012 R2. What are we doing wrong to make it work? Many thanks in advance.

Re: proliant ml310e gen8 v2 new HDD
Hi,
Just some basic checks, is the 4TB drive that you installed, is that compatible with the array controller?
What is the Disk management tool you are using, is it Array configuration utility?
Thank You!
I work with HPE but opinions expressed here are mine.

Re: proliant ml310e gen8 v2 new HDD
Thank you for your answer. It is Windows Server 2012 R2 Disk Manager what I meant. I actually do not know if there is any kind of incompatibility with the array controller. We installed the disk (WD RED 4TB) to the free internal sata port in the mother board because we are not doing any raid wtih it. The disk is listed in ILO but not as logical unit.

Re: proliant ml310e gen8 v2 new HDD
Hi,
Not sure if Non-HPE drives works with HPE Array Controller.
Please see the server QuickSpecs page#19 for compatible drives.
Will Non-HPE Hard Disk Drives work with ProLiant Servers?
One suggestion is to update the Array Controller firmware.
Thank You!

Re: proliant ml310e gen8 v2 new HDD
Hi.
Thank you for your reply. I will check the links. I am not sure why you keep talking about array controller while I said we attached the drive to the free mobo sata port (the other one of two ports is with a dvd drive and is working fine), not to none of the two of four free bays attached to de array controller. Am I missing anything?
Many thanks in advance.
Best regards.

Re: proliant ml310e gen8 v2 new HDD
Hello @mechbin
What is missing here is the compatibility betweeb the non-hpe drives and HPE server.
Let me know if you were able to resolve the issue.
Thankyou
Suman
