ProLiant ML350 G4 - Heatsink has a sticker on it
We are having overheating issues with our server. I cleaned it out because there was a lot of dust, but I noticed a thin clear plastic sticker on the heatsink between the CPU and the heatsink. I was going to remove the sticker but some grey matter under the sticker was starting to lift off with it.
Is this sticker suppose to be there?
I'm think someone forget to remove it during assembly.
Thanks.

Re: ProLiant ML350 G4 - Heatsink has a sticker on it
I can't imagine the sticker's doing you any good. If the thermal paste under it is coming off too, I'd say wipe it down with alcohol pads to clean it and the processor, then apply a new layer of paste, about 0.25 - 0.5 grams is all you need, and you can find the recommended patterns to apply it in the service and maintenance guide. (I use the pattern of a dot in each corner and the middle)
HP uses the cheap aluminium/ceramic paste, and that tends to work fine, unless you prefer the high grade silver.

Re: ProLiant ML350 G4 - Heatsink has a sticker on it
Found the answer. The Maintenance and Service PDF for the server shows the heatsink and the sticker and it says "DO NOT REMOVE THE STICKER".

I was sure it wasn't suppose to be there but I guess it is.
Thanks anyways.
