ProLiant ML350 Gen9 - Cache Module Status failed
Hi
I am seeing the following error on the server.
Controller on System Board
Logical View Physical View
Controller Status OK
Serial Number **confidential info erased**
Model Smart Array P440ar Controller
Firmware Version 3.56
Controller Type HPE Smart Array
Cache Module Status Failed
Cache Module Serial Number **Confidential info erased**
Cache Module Memory 2097152 KB
Encryption Status Not Enabled
Encryption ASIC Status OK
Encryption Critical Security Parameter NVRAM Status OK
I have read that i need to update the firmware of the Smart Array to see which part is at fault. The latest version is 7.20, which I have downloaded. Can I go directly from version 3.56 to 7.20?

Re: ProLiant ML350 Gen9 - Cache Module Status failed
Hi,
This issue could be resolved by:
Reseating cache module cable
Reseating cache module itself
Updating Smart Array controller firmware
Replacing the cache module itself
There are some documents available for help.

Re: ProLiant ML350 Gen9 - Cache Module Status failed
Many thanks.
I have now ordered a replacemen battery and replaced it last week, but I am still getting the same error, plus now the server has a red cross under the status of the smart storage battery in the ilo interface.
Screen shots are below
Do I need to replace the actual module?
If so, is this the correct part to order: HP Smart Array P440AR/2GB FBWC 12GB 2-Ports INT SAS Controller.
Thank you

Re: ProLiant ML350 Gen9 - Cache Module Status failed
Hi,
According to the pictures attached, looks like cache module and battery has failed.
Here are the Spare and Option parts list for this server.

Re: ProLiant ML350 Gen9 - Cache Module Status failed
Thank you.
I have already replaced the battery.
Is there any way to tell if the battery is actually good or a faulty one? Or do i just need to replace the cache module and see if the alert goes away?

Re: ProLiant ML350 Gen9 - Cache Module Status failed
Hi,
Wait for 24 hours for battery to charge and error to go away.
If its FBWC, then no need to wait for that long time.
If still the same issue, try to replace the cache module.
Thank You!

I have now replaced the cache controller board and the battery and I still have the same error.
Any ideas on how to progress this?
Many thanks
