Proliant monitoring SNMP

Hello,

i'm working in an Windows Server enviroment. In the moment i'm still monitoring all the servers with the Compaq Insight Manager 5.5. We plan to install a new monitoring Server with SIM 4.2. But till this is reallized i have to monitor a Proliant DL380G4 running SUSE 9. Is it possible to monitor this server over SNMP? I have another Monitoring Tool running that uses snmp. But i have to know the OIDs to monitor the server.
Does anybody know where i can find more information about that? And in general is it possible to monitor HP Servers through SNMP without using the SIM?

Re: Proliant monitoring SNMP

Huh? Sure there is. There are plenty of applications available to monitor snmp. Another one available from HP is Openview. You may be able to use either Tivoli, Unicenter, or any of the other applications available. You can also configure the agents to send snmp traps to different servers and the event viewer should show at least some basic trap info.
The truth is out there, but I forgot the URL..

Re: Proliant monitoring SNMP

hmm maybe i explaind it wrong. I have the Suse9 Enterprise Server and in want to monitor it through an ActiveXperts Network Monitor. This monitoring Tool can monitor the snmp. But i need the HP SNMP OIDs to tell the toll what i want to monitor. For example i would like to know if a physical drive fails. There must be an OID for that or? Or do i HAVE to do it with an HP Tool??

Re: Proliant monitoring SNMP

Do you have a management cd? If not, the management cd can be downloaded from:
http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/servers/management/smartstart/index.html

The MIBs are available in the toolkit folder on this cd.
