Promise S150 SX4 Raid Controller in ML110 _G2_ server

Is it possible to use Promise FastTrak S150 SX4 Raid Controller in ML110 G2 server ?

There is one PCI 32-bit/33Mhz slot in ML110 G2 where we tryed to install S150 SX4. The controller is succesfuly detected by system BIOS, the controller's BIOS itself sees an array (RAID5 on 4 250G disks) as functional, however when Windows 2003 SP1 starts loading it goes BSOD with error 0x7B - inaccessible boot device.

The Promise S150 SX4 Raid Controller was taken from our old ML110 G1. Before installation into ML110 G2, its 6-port Adaptec SATA Raid controller was removed.

Re: Promise S150 SX4 Raid Controller in ML110 _G2_ server

I confurm: we installed the controller into the only one 32-bit PCI slot - #5.

Some additional information:
1. We upgraded S150 SX4 controller BIOS to the latest version 2.0.70.24 (from http://www.promise.com/support/download/download2_eng.asp?productID=112&category=all&os=100)
2. We installed Adaptec SATA RAID Controller in parallel to S150 SX4 (into the 64-bit PCI slot) and successfully booted up Windows XP SP2 from it. Windows XP detected new hardware - Promise S150 SX4 Raid Controller, and we installed the latest drivers v2.00.0.25 for it. After reboot, the fastfx driver failed with error "internal driver error in data structure".
3. To ensure, that Promise S150 SX4 Raid Controller is functional, we pluged it in a regular no-brand PC. It works (system boots).
4. To ensure, that 32-bit PCI slot in ML110 G2 is functional, we pluged into it a multiport PCI card. It worked.

Well, it seems, that it is just a combination of Promise S150 SX4 Raid Controller and ML110 G2, that fails to work together.

I have successfully set up a Promise RAID controller in an ML110 G2

I had some initial problems which I solved by calling Promise Technical Support in Endhoven, Holland.

Was it FastTrak S150 SX4 ?

> I had some initial problems
Could you explain, what that problems were?

Basically, our problem is that windows driver fails to work with the controller, when the controller is installed into ML110 G2 server.

> had you tried driver...
Yes, we tried 4 different versions:
- v1.01.0030.7 from HP CDROM for ML110 G1
- v1.01.30.11 from HP site
- v1.02.0000.9 from Promise site
- v2.00.00.25 from Promise site
