QLA2340 cannot update bios

I'm trying to update the firmware (BIOS) for a QLogic HBA QLA2340. Using HP firmware CD 9.00 I cannot do this.

The firmware CD identifies:
Product
HP Firmware Flash for QLogic Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters
New Version: 2010.03.17

But after the BIOS update attempt I get:

Status
Update returned an error


and the installation log reads like this:

Any ideas what is going wrong? How can I update the BIOS on the QLA2340?

check the Qlogic web site for the adaper firmware.

I _have_ the adapter firmware. It is on the hp firmware 9.00 dvd. The QLogic website points to the hp website, when you search for QLA2340 firmware.

The firmware installer program on the 9.00 DVD tries to install the new bios, but fails and gives the error message I posted.

This is not the first time this happened, we have six identical DL385G1 boxes, I have not been able to update the QLA2340 firmware yet.

Does it say the firmware on this version of the CD supports your particular HBA?

Looking around it appears the QLA2340 is the vendor model for the HP FC2214 HBA, the last released firmware shows to be back in 2009

As I said in the original question: The firmware dvd recognized this particular HBA and proposes to update the bios. But while trying to update the bios, the above error is thrown. This is more than strong evidence, that hp officially supports this HBA, but something goes wrong on the update.

To Jan Soska:

The HBA is named "FCA 221x Fibre Channel HBA" (according to the "System Management Homepage"). The installed firmware versions are:
Firmware Version: v. 3.03.19
Option ROM Version: v.1.45

The last released version seems to be:
v1.55 from 26 Jun 2009

Jan van der Lugt: Unfortunately, no I could not resolve the issue. The suggested SanSurfer method will not work, since the machine in question runs NetWare, for which there is no SanSurfer available.

Our qlogic cards are running fine though, so I decided to ignore this bios update.

Switched the network card with one of the other cards, looks like it was simply broken... No problem, can buy a new one on eBay for 5 euro :-)
