Raid 5

I have a Smart 2-DH array with 4x 4.3Gb drives. I replaced one drive due to a fault, however, a seperate drive has too many errors to rebuild Logical Drive 1 and needs replacing. If I were to add another drive into the array, would this give me enough fault tolerance to replace the drive with errors. I really do not want to rebuild the box. ?

Re: Raid 5

Could you explain this a little better? Do you mean that another drive in that array is also failing? Or do you mean that you have tried a replacement drive that is also defective? If it's the latter, just try another drive in place of this first replacement. The controller will still attempt a full rebuild on the drive since the previous replacement wasn't good...

Re: Raid 5

The drive which replaced the faulty drive is okay, however, an existing drive in the array has reached it's error threshold and preventing the build of Logical drive 1, however no fault light appears. Can this drive be fixed or the threshold increased ?

Re: Raid 5

Try flashing both the array controller and the drives. Sometimes thresholds are increased in a later version of the Hard Drive Firmware
