Raid Array, Disk/s Not being detected? x2 4LFF Drive Backplane Cage Kit
Good Morning everyone ,
I have the following server 878450-001 HPE PROLIANT ML110 GEN10 4108 1P 16GB-R S100I 8LFF SATA
Specs
Xeon 1440
16GB Ram
HPE Smart Array S100i SR Gen10 SW RAID
x2 NEW HPE 869491-B21 ML110 Gen10 4LFF Drive Backplane Cage Kit Enclosure Kit
The problem according to the documentation which can be seen at link below
https://h20195.www2.hpe.com/V2/getpdf.aspx/a00021851enw.pdf?ver=8
This setup should support 12TB LFF "swappable" at a minium even if I had a 4TB it should be detected. The issue is I have tried both a 12TB disc and a 2tb and 4tb disc and everytime I go into the BIOS and raid array and anything related to the disc setup "NOTHING IS BEING DETECTED"
Which leads me to believe something is not configured correctly with the cages that plug into the motherboard itself. I am extremely new to HP and HPE setups as most of my expiernce comes from Dell's

Re: Raid Array, Disk/s Not being detected? x2 4LFF Drive Backplane Cage Kit Good Morning everyone ,
I think I found out the issue.... the cages that are HOT Swappable appear to NOT support the oem onboard raid controller. It looks like I need a oem raid card. Can anyone confirm this?
NOTE: NHP SATA is limited to S100i controller.

Re: Raid Array, Disk/s Not being detected? x2 4LFF Drive Backplane Cage Kit
Hi Dade,
From the notes it seems that the server 1x8 SFF drive cage replaced with the 2x4 LFF drive cage.
When the additional drive cage is installed, the redundant fan kit and redundant power supply kit is required and it is clearly mentioned in the quickspecs.
https://h20195.www2.hpe.com/V2/getpdf.aspx/a00021851enw.pdf?ver=8
NOTE: This kit is also required to support an optional redundant fan kit.
HPE ML110 Gen10 Redundant Fan with 4 Fans Kit 869489-B21
NOTE: When one of the following scenarios occurs, the server requires a Redundant Fan with a 800W
Redundant Power Supply to be installed.
1. When a second HDD cage is installed and the SAS HDDs are running at 15K RPM.
2. When a SAS SSD is installed.
3. If one fan fails, the system will be required to continue operating with a Redundant Fan. This condition is
indicated by a flashing amber Health LED.
4. When the system requirements are to meet the A3 extended operating environment
Hope this answers your queries.
Regards,
KK

Re: Raid Array, Disk/s Not being detected? x2 4LFF Drive Backplane Cage Kit
Sorry to say but your below statement is 100% FALSE
"When the additional drive cage is installed, the redundant fan kit and redundant power supply kit is required and it is clearly mentioned in the quickspecs. "
I've installed both hott-swappable cages +raid card+ battery 8 12TB Drives and my server works just fine. I dont need to spend more money if i dont have too.

Re: Raid Array, Disk/s Not being detected? x2 4LFF Drive Backplane Cage Kit
Yes, my server is now 100% fully functional and detecting all 12TB drives.
