RAID Arrays Failed on Proliant
Have a Proliant DL385 G9 with a Smart Array 440ar. I have 20 drives installed. I have 2 drives (in the optional expansion slot in the front of the chassis) and 18 drives in the standard slots. The 2 drives are RAID 1, Logical Drive 1. The 18 drives are RAID 6, Logical Drive 2. The server has been performing fine until it went offline this evening.. I went to look at it and it is constantly boot cycling. Under System Health It says: Configuration Required. - 1779 Slot 0 Drive Array - Replacement drive(s) detected OR previosuly failed drive(s) now appear operational: POrt 1T, Box:1, bay 1 and 2 (SAS) Bay 9 - 24 (SAS) Logical drive(s) disabled due to possible data loss. In ACU Critical Status Message: 271 Logical Drive 1 has failed and cannot be used. All data on this logial drive has been lost, etc. Same for Logical Drive 2. I am given the option to Re-Enable Failed Logical Drive. No drive errors indicated in ACU.
I would rather not lose my data (yes, I know backup, backup backup. That was the next step but this happened). I have no failure lights on the drives. No drives have been replaced. I find it hard to believe that 5 drives from the RAID 1 and RAID 6 failed at the same time. I assume the RAID Controller, hiccuped? Any advice? Help, please.
