Re: raid configuration in server 2008
Hi!
You do not have to create a software mirror in Win2k8 if you have a hardware mirror.
In the HP boot cd - is that the smartstart cd?
You should have a ACU - array configuration utility. In there you should see both your disks. Maybe you only see one - are you then in the logical or physical view?
You can also configure the hw raid by going into the ORCA - by pressing F8 at the right time during boot.

Quickly press F8 while prompted at POST to configure RAID Array through OCRA...
> if boot from hp bootable cd there not showing the option of raid configuration
You mean Smart Start by hp bootable Cd... It should give option called ACU (Array Confuguration Utility) to configure RAID..
> i have two swapable harddisk there is only one hardisk showing
What do you mean by two swapable harddisk? Is both of same make, size? If you are booting from Windows bootable, it should show you both disk if drivers supported or you can press F8 while asked for installing third party drivers at boot time...
> is it automatic create raid or i have to configure manually is there any other process
It depends on factory default settings, if you have received both HDDs with servers, it might be pre-configured as RAID-1. Only two process is available (one through OCRA, another through Smart Start)
> is it necessary to mirrored in server 2008.
Not necessary..it depends on your organisational need, you can also configure as RAID-0 or no RAID at all and use both hard disk seperately...
