Re: Re:Failed to install OS
Download and make the system configuration program disks and the Compaq server diagnostic disk from these web addresses.
http://www5.compaq.com/support/files/server/us/download/9180.html
http://www5.compaq.com/support/files/server/us/download/9524.html
Run the configuration program and verify that the CD-ROM drive shows up with the correct SCSI ID in the system BIOS. Also check the boot device order. Make sure the CD-ROM is listed as a boot device. Next check the boot controller order. The SCSI controller the booting hard drive is connected to must be 1st. The OS must be set the SCO Openserver 5 so the hard drive geometry is correct for the OS. Save the new hardware configuration to CMOS.
If the BIOS settings are correct and the CD-ROM drive is working, you should be able to boot the system from the SmartStart or SCO install CD's. If you can not boot from the CD-ROM drive, run the Compaq server diagnostics and perfrom the CD-ROM drive read test. If the test fails, replace the CD-ROM drive.
