Rebuilding RAID0 after disk failure
I have a DL380 G4 in which I had a RAID0 consisting of 4x140GB hotplug disks. Recently, one of the disks failed and my supplier sent me a new one. I powered down the server and put in the new disk. Upon rebooting, I deleted the array (data lost I know) and the created a new parallel SCSI array to include all the disks again in RAID0 as it was before. The ACU and Diag and HP monitoring tools tell me all is good and the disk appears in the Disk Manager of WIndows 2003 Server. However, teh disk (520GB) appears as online but uninitialized. When I right click the disk and select "Initialize Disk" it returns to being Not Initialized.
What am I not doing?
Array Config:
Smart Array 6i Controller in Embedded Slot
Parallel SCSI Array A
72.8 GB Parallel SCSI Drive at Port 2 : SCSI ID 0
Logical Drive 1 ( 69459 MB, RAID 0 )
Parallel SCSI Array B
146.8 GB Parallel SCSI Drive at Port 2 : SCSI ID 2
146.8 GB Parallel SCSI Drive at Port 2 : SCSI ID 3
146.8 GB Parallel SCSI Drive at Port 2 : SCSI ID 4
146.8 GB Parallel SCSI Drive at Port 2 : SCSI ID 5
Logical Drive 2 (560039 MB, RAID 0 )
thanks
Daniel

Re: Rebuilding RAID0 after disk failure
Usally when a hard drive failes and then you chage it ,in the reboot it should start the rebuit, you would see the rebuild in the home page management.
