Re: Recover password iLO5
Hello,
To regain access to iLO, you may use swith S1 of the system maintenance switch to disable iLO security and there by reset iLO networking to factory default settings.
- Click here to view the location of the system maintenance switch on an HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 Server. Refer to item number 2 on the picture for its location.
- Once located, power of the server and remove the power cables from the power supplies and then remove the access panel. The system maintenance switch's location is also found on its inside as well for easy location.
- On the system maintenance switch, set switch S1 from its default position of "Off" to "On", replace the access panel. Connect the power cables to the power supplies and power on the server.
- When there is a message that indicates that the iLO security override switch is set and that security enforecement is disabled, then power off the server, remove the power cables from the power supply, remove the access panel and reverse switch S1's position to the default "Off".
Once reset, use the server's serial label pull tab attached to the server for default iLO login credentials. You may click here for information on location of the serial label pull tab.
Once logged, reset the password for the user and go on to create other users with required privileges to manage the server.

Re: Recover password iLO5
You can either follow the above recommended procedure or perform the activity directly from the BIOS.
Procedure:
Restart or power on the server.
Press F9 during the server POST screen.
The UEFI System Utilities will start.
Click System Configuration, then navigate to iLO 5 Configuration Utility, and select User Management. Click on Add User.
Select the privileges for the new user. To assign a privilege, choose YES next to the privilege name. To remove a privilege, select NO.
Note: The Login privilege is assigned to every user by default and is not listed in the iLO 5 Configuration Utility. The Recovery Set privilege cannot be assigned through this utility and is therefore not available in the list.
Enter the user name and login name in the respective boxes: New User Name and Login Name.
Enter the password. Move the cursor to the Password box and press Enter.
The Enter your new password box will open. Type the password and press Enter.
The Confirm your new password box will open. Type the password again to confirm and press Enter.
The iLO 5 Configuration Utility will confirm the new account creation.
To close the confirmation dialog box, click OK.
Create additional user accounts if needed, then press F12 to save the changes and exit the system utilities.
When prompted to confirm the changes, click Yes - Save Changes to exit the utility and resume the boot process.
