Red Hat Linux Install Problem on Proliant
Installing Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 (Update 4 or 5) on an HP ProLiant DL380 results in the following error when anaconda is loading the package list and prior to my being able to select packages or choose the default package selection:
A unhandled exception has occurred ......
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/bin/anaconda", line 1089, in ?
intf.run(id,dispatch,configFileData)
File "/usr/bin/anaconda/text.py", line 471, in run
dispatch.gotoNext()
File "/usr/bin/anaconda/dispatch.py", line 225 in moveStep
rc= apply(func,self.bindArgs(args))
Some more info:
1. I am using a Virtual CD through ILO.
2. The firmware is configured for Linux and I have followed the docs HP provides on installing Linux.
3. The same problem exists with 4 different versions of ISO files used for the Virtual CD so it is not a media issue.
4. Have tried Red Hat Ent Linux AS and ES with the same results.
5. The server is in a remote data center thousands of miles away so going there and doing a physical install is not an option.
Anyone heard of this or have similar issues, and, more importantly, know how to get around it. My head is hurting from the banging on walls I have been doing.
Thanks....Damir

Re: Red Hat Linux Install Problem on Proliant
Try upgrading the iLo to the most recent (1.75 I think) firmware revision. It improves virtual installations a great deal. It also works better with ISO files, etc. Good Luck.

Re: Red Hat Linux Install Problem on Proliant
Hi Damir Bersinic,
Could you try to install the OS following way?
Activity 1: update the ILO FIRMWARE up to date.
Activity 2: The Linux ISO image disk's are copy remote Server near by the system.
Activity 3: The Installation Start with boot (disk1) image Cd's and select options
#dd install
Activity 4: It is asking ARRAY CONTROLLER
(5I/6I) driver diskette and choose the installation type NFS.
Activity 5: If you choose NFS It's asking ip address from the source image and the image (ISO-1, ISO-2, ISO-3, ISO-4) holding folder name.
I thing the above process will success your Expectation.
Thanks and Regard
