Please give v3.7 a quick test. If you see 9006 errors, please try the v3.9 beta which comes with a new CPQSMIF.DLL

Update: I have uploaded the Release Candidate for both iLO3/4 Drivers to the FTP site. These drivers are WHQL signed.

Be sure to install both CHIF and CORE drivers.  CHIF driver v3.9.0.0 comes with a new CPQSMIF.DLL that solves the random Trap ID 9006 issue and CORE driver v3.9.0.0 comes with a new ProLiant Monitor Service that solves the random Event ID 78/79.

 

A reboot is required after installing these drivers.

I'm using CHIF 3.7 and iLO3 FW 1.55

 

Haven't had a reoccurrence of 9006 issue so far.

Is this related? I'm having issues with some linux servers built on DL380G7 and DL685G7. There could be others.

CIM_9009 The mouse cable for the remote Insight board on server has been disconnected.

In /var/log messages I see hpasmlited[7880]: Integrated Lights-Out Error - Attempting synchronization!

 

ILO f/w is at 1.55 - 01/24/2013.

Would there be any impact on the server's operation if we do not apply the patches or upgrade the driver?

If you are not monitoring your servers via HPSIM or don't care about SNMP traps/SMH falsely reporting iLO as unresponsive then, you can just keep the old iLO drivers and CPQSMIF.DLL.

Last night we got 18 Remote Insight/ Integrated LightsOut Interface Error (9006) errors.  The majority of the servers are dl360 g5 with ILO 2 running windows server 2008 R2.  I have read the entire stream of posts here and hope I can get some insight into how to solve these issues.

I am getting "Remote Insight Agent The Remote Insight Board Integrated Lights-Out has detected a controller interface error. SNMP TRAP 9006 in CPQSM2.MIB" errors in the system event logs and  iLO2 is not responding on about 20 of my DL380 G6 systems. Things seemed ok until after a reboot.

All I can say is I am really disappointed in HP lately. They are making the Dell Servers look better and better.

Hi, what is the name of the file for the CORE driver and what folder is it in?

The false SNMP trap ID 9006 is caused by an old version of CPQSMIF.DLL. This DLL is part of the CHIF driver suite, not the CORE driver suite.
That said, I would recommend upgrading both driver suites at the same time.

I cannot access the SAW pro website that you supplied to fix this error:

 

Server Error
403 - Forbidden: Access is denied. You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied.

 

I don't have the credentials to download the latest updated driver.

Hi,

It is even happening for iLO4 ( BL460c Gen8 and Gen9) servers with ESXi 6.0 as operating system.

 

we have tried updating latest firmware for iLO but does not help.

 

HP says either update firmware or replace system board

Dont knowy replacing the system board is the only way to fix this issue since iLO firmware upgrade will not resolve this issue

 

we are experiencing multiple customers are getting impacted by this issue and we are trying to study more on this case. As part of this we could find below 2 KBs from HP.

1st KB says to check the below steps:

 

Solution

  • Click here to Reset iLO
  • Click here to Update iLO Firmware

But the 2nd KB provides little more detailed steps, but HP dont confirm whether this is correct or not

 

Is there any official KB / Advisery from HPE on this case ???
