Re: replace brokenHDD in Proliant DL 380 G6
You have RAID 6 with an active apare. Just removed the failed disk, (should show an amber led on the disk) and replace with a new disk. The rebuild process will start and rebuild the RAID.

Re: replace brokenHDD in Proliant DL 380 G6
As the hard drive has already failed, Im assuming the spare hard drive would have kicked in and rebuild would have already started, you really dont have to shut the server down , Can you let me know the led status on the spare hard drive ? also post the adu report here if possible.

Re: replace brokenHDD in Proliant DL 380 G6
Spare HD led is Green.
Physicaldrive 2I:1:6 (port 2I:box 1:bay 6, SAS, 146 GB, Failed) led is Amber.
This is my first time.

Re: replace brokenHDD in Proliant DL 380 G6
If the spare hard drive has a solid amber led it could be active and the rebuild would have completed, you could go ahead and replace the failed hard drive , however if you want to be doubly sure, you could send me the adu [ I dont know how we can pull ADU from cent OS ] or boot the server from smart start 8.70b and provide me the adu report
