Replace Smart Array 641 with Smart Array 642 in Proliant with SBS 2003

Hi,

Could somebody let me know the process of replacing a smart array 641 with a 641 in a Proliant ML330 with SBS 2003 install on a RAID5 array.

Is there something I should do before replacing the unit - i.e. update drivers etc or is it a straight swap out?

Thanks

Paul

Probably the wrong forum, but your best bet would be to install the new card in the server and boot the OS BEFORE you remove the old card. This will add the correct PCI VEN ID's to the registry. Then you can shutdown the server and make the swap.

Power Down System removes Card, Install New Card Power Up, donâ t let System boot completely, before it see O/S cycle box â all done. Do no use External Port on the 641 if Internal used.

Verify only Firmware on the Controller and driver in the system, see second link
