Hi!
We have a ProLiant DL360 Gen10 with SmartArray P408i-a controller in RAID5 mode with four 600GB SAS 15k drives.
Over the years we already replaced two of them, because they reported a "Predictive Failure"
Now a third one reports a "Predictive Failure":
# ssacli ctrl slot=0 pd all show status
physicaldrive 1I:1:1 (port 1I:box 1:bay 1, 600 GB): Predictive Failure
physicaldrive 1I:1:2 (port 1I:box 1:bay 2, 600 GB): OK
physicaldrive 1I:1:3 (port 1I:box 1:bay 3, 600 GB): OK
physicaldrive 1I:1:4 (port 1I:box 1:bay 4, 600 GB): OK
# ssacli ctrl slot=0 pd 1I:1:1 show detail

To replace the drive I tried to order a 870757-B21 drive (600GB SAS 15K SFF SC DS) as I did in the years before, but all our distributors now list them as out of stock, out of production and/or generally unavailable.
They suggest other models, like:
872477-B21 - this is a 600GB SAS SFF SC DS drive, but with 10k instead of 15k
or even
872479-B21 - this is a 1.2TB SAS SFF SC DS drive with 10k
But I'm unsure.
Can I simply replace the failing 600GB 15K drive with one of these?
I don't care much about the slower rotation speed (well, almost), but I need confirmation that the replacement drive otherwise will work fine in the RAID5 and won't crash the whole array!
Any insight on this?
Thanks!

Hi @Andreas5 ,
You can procure and replace confidently to the suggested models. Those (872479-B21 and 872477-B21 ) are listed under quickspecs of DL360 Gen10 server as supported disk drives.

SolutionHello,
The above mentioned QuickSpecs indicate the following for the listed option part:
872479-B21 - HPE 1.2TB SAS 12G Mission Critical 10K SFF SC 3-year Warranty Multi Vendor HDD
872477-B21 - HPE 600GB SAS 12G Mission Critical 10K SFF SC 3-year Warranty Multi Vendor HDD
Both are SAS drives. If the array is constituted of SAS drives, then any of the above may be considered. If the 1.2TB hard drive is used, but the hard drives in the array are all 600GB, then the extra capacity will be unavdailable to the array.

Re: Replacement for 600GB 15k SAS drive (870757-B21 )?
Hi!
I finally decided to go with the 872479-B21 1.2TB drive.
Yesterday the new drive was delivered and I replaced the failing 600GB drive with the new 1.2TB one.
Now the RAID again is fully synced, up and healty:
# ssacli ctrl slot=0 ld 1 show status
logicaldrive 1 (1.64 TB, RAID 5): OK
# ssacli ctrl slot=0 pd all show status
physicaldrive 1I:1:1 (port 1I:box 1:bay 1, 1.2 TB): OK
physicaldrive 1I:1:2 (port 1I:box 1:bay 2, 600 GB): OK
physicaldrive 1I:1:3 (port 1I:box 1:bay 3, 600 GB): OK
physicaldrive 1I:1:4 (port 1I:box 1:bay 4, 600 GB): OK
Thank you both very much for your support!
Kind regards,
- andreas
