Replacing SAS Drive on Prolient ML350 with Smart Array P410i
Hello
I have a Prolient ML350 with two RAIDs Configured, see attached picture.
Each RAID has 1 faulty hard drive, the faulty drives show constant red LED's.
I bought 2 new SAS drives, which I thought were compatable, and do seem to fit, however they are not exactly the same as the original drives, as the new drives do not have status LEDS.
I have fitted the drives, however the Array Configuration Utility does not seem to pick up the drives.
Please see the attached screenshot of the Array utility.
Links to the new drives:
Have I bought incompatable drives? or is there some other issue? The guide I have looked at all suggest that the server will automatically detect the new drives rebuild the array.
Any advise would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Ben

Re: Replacing SAS Drive on Prolient ML350 with Smart Array P410i
These are drives for Gen8 and Gen9 servers, your server must be older.
Open the link you posted and scroll down to "Designed For".
I wounder if you can insert them ... they cannot fit becasue of the new disk frame.
As a work around you may swap the disk frame from the failed drives, but better get original drives for your server model.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
