Replacing the failed drive with unassigned drive
I have a proliant DL380 Gen10 server with 16 600 GB SAS HDD (3 Logical Drive with 2x600GB set up and 10 unassigned drive).
In the logical drive where i have installed the OS, one of the 600GB HDD is in failed state and i want to heal the array by replacing the drive with unassigned drive. When i try to add the unassigned drive im getting this message - "One or more selected drives are connected to mixed mode ports and directly exposed to the OS. These drives will become unavailable to the OS after this operation."
Now, can i heal the drive without any impact to the OS? Will it wipe the OS drive data?

Re: Replacing the failed drive with unassigned drive
Hi,
There are some other posts with same issue, see here and here.

To be on safer side, I would recommend to take a backup before performing any activity.
NOTE: It’s important to keep data backup before performing this activity.
Data integrity is customer responsibility. HPE recommends having data backup frequently and before performing any activity so that it can be restored during disaster recovery.
Thank You!
