Request for NVIDIA Licensing Details (HPE OEM – Per GPU, Non-AI/Non-VDI)

Hi,

Kindly request the community to provide a guidance regarding the NVIDIA software licensing options currently available under HPE OEM licensing for ProLiant servers.I specifically need the applicable per-GPU licenses for non-AI, non-VDI, and concurrent-user workloads.

For reference, please also include or review the attached PDF for NVIDIA Software Licensing (https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docLocale=en_US&docId=dp00006082en_us ) to ensure the information aligns with the latest licensing model.

Thanks,

Hi @anteneha ,

Hope this helps!

NVIDIA Software Licensing Options via HPE OEM

  1. NVIDIA AI Enterprise (AIE) – Per GPU

    • Scope: Enterprise‑grade drivers, CUDA, HPC/data analytics libraries, container support, and NVIDIA enterprise support.

    • Metric: Licensed per physical GPU (subscription terms via HPE).

    • Use cases: General compute, HPC, analytics, rendering, and server workloads.

    • Non‑AI/Non‑VDI applicability: Yes.

    • Concurrent users: Not user‑metered; multiple users can share GPU resources via OS/job scheduler.

  2. NVIDIA RTX Virtual Workstation (RTX vWS) – Per Concurrent User

    • Scope: Virtualized workstation graphics with pro app certifications.

    • Metric: Licensed per concurrent user (CCU).

    • Use cases: CAD, DCC, visualization in VDI environments.

    • Non‑VDI applicability: Not relevant.

  3. NVIDIA Virtual Applications (vApps) – Per Concurrent User

    • Scope: Virtualized app acceleration for productivity apps.

    • Metric: Licensed per concurrent user (CCU).

    • Use cases: Lightweight VDI app acceleration.

    • Non‑VDI applicability: Not relevant.

  4. Free Components (no license required)

    • NVIDIA DCGM (Data Center GPU Manager): Monitoring tool.

    • CUDA / CUDA‑X libraries: SDKs for compute workloads.

    • Basic drivers: Freely available, but enterprise support requires AIE.

Recommended License for Your Case

  • Choose: NVIDIA AI Enterprise (per GPU via HPE OEM)

    Why:

    • Covers non‑AI, non‑VDI workloads with enterprise‑grade drivers and support.

    • Licensed per GPU, so concurrency is managed at the OS/application level, not by NVIDIA licensing.

    • Ensures compliance and support for ProLiant servers without unnecessary VDI entitlements.
