Reset a 5i Smart Array in a DL360

Need to know if it is data safe (customer data) to remove all the drives from an HP DL360 and power on - access the 5i Smart Array and (how do I do a reset after F8, please) perform a reset. Power off and restore the drives and power on again - goal is to clear any cached configuration history. All details are appreciated. When adding the drives back their concern to address here is they are afraid it will format them (or initialize to a like new state). Do not want to lose any data.

if I get your question correctly ,if you access via SMH System Management Home page

Try these on the server:

#/usr/sbin/cpqacuxe -stop (stopping)
#/usr/sbin/cpqacuxe -R (restarting)

I believe it manages smart array, even though this one run on DL380-G4 in my environment ,I think it must be same as function. Following maybe helpfull in description;

# cpqacuxe -h
Array Configuration Utility version 7.61.2.0
The Array Configuration Utility (ACU) allows you to configure and manage your storage through a web browser.
Server Mode Usage:
cpqacuxe [option]
Options: (use one only)
-h, --help Show this page.
-v Show version information.
-d, --disable-remote Disable remote connection (default).
-R, --enable-remote Enable remote connection.
-stop Stop the server.

Scripting Mode Usage:
cpqacuxe [option] [filename]
Options: (use one only)
-c Capture configuration to a script file. Default file is acucapt.ini.
-i Input configuration from a script file. Default file is acuinput.ini.
See ACU documentation for script file syntax.

Note:
Make sure that you have gone through the following checklist:
1. Change the administrator password to something other than
the default.
2. Only run ACU on servers that are on a local intranet
or a secure network.
3. Secure the management port (port 2301 or 2381)
on your network.

Hello,

the 5i controller is embedded on your sys brd and will not be reseated. You can reseat the cache module/battery if you like.

the disk info is saved on controller and on disks so the data should be safe, however, its always recommended to have a backup.

The difference between ordinary and extraordinary, is that little extra.
