Re: Resetting Bios password
Hello Alex,
Here are the settings for the system switches which will enable you to reset the BIOS password:
System Maintenance Switch
Switch # Default Function
1 Off Off = iLO security is enabled.
On = iLO security is disabled.
2 Off Off = System configuration can be changed.
On = System configuration is locked.
3 Off Reserved
4 Off Off = Booting from diskette is controlled by RBSU.
On = Booting from diskette is enabled and RBSU is overridden.
5 Off Off = Power-on password is enabled.
On = Power-on password is disabled.
6 Off Off = No function.
On = Clear NVRAM.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Caution: When the maintenance mode switch #6 is turned on (switch set to closed) and the system is powered up, nonvolatile RAM (NVRAM) configuration information is invaildated and lost.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
System Maintenance Switch sits very close to the RAM slots.
Basically it's the switch No 5
which you have to turn to the ON position to disable the password and then you can re-enable it after the first reboot.
Regards,

Re: Resetting Bios password
Let me more specific. This is not power-on password. This is compaq admin user password when I run array config utility for example.
I set the 6th switch to on and cycled the box on and then turned the switch back off.
Still I can't login. Isn't the default password blank?
Thanks
Alex
