ROM Updates

Hi

Can some one please point to some documentation on how to do ROM updates on the Proliant line of servers? The docs I've found on HPs site are less then helpful.

I have a bootable USB drive that I created. That works. I'm able to stick the thumb drive in the server and it boots off of it.

I have downloaded the update that I'm interested in (the .scexe) file.

Now, how do I get the update utility (or what ever HP calls it) to see the file?

I've tried copying it on to the bootable USB drive. I've tried copying it on to another USB drive and sticking it in the server. No luck. I'm not given an option to use that file.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Vic

Never mind. I figured out way to get around the fiercely retared HP sofware.

Re: ROM Updates

Hi,
Once you have the ROM updated downloaded in a diskette, boot the server using SMART START CD and use the firmware update utility to update the ROMPAQ.

Re: ROM Updates

Or try the very useful 'Firmware Maintenance CD' which is almost universal across a broad range of Proliants. It will scan your system and compare current versions against those on the CD. This will update the lot and works from the bootable CD:
