SAS drive Firmware Update recommended but can't find an update
Hi there,
We have a proliant Gen 8 running 2008 R2 and recently one of the drives failed, so I got a new one but the Smart Storage Administrator software is saying the firmware should be updated from HPD2 to a minimum HPD4 .. problem is the latest one I can find for the drive is HPD2.
Drive: HPE 300GB SAS 6G Enterprise 10K SFF
Model: HP EG000300JWFVB (It says this model is a 12 GBPS but it's definitly 6)
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Re: SAS drive Firmware Update recommended but can't find an update
Hello,
If you are mixing this model with other models then the models may have different firmware depending on the Vendors.
Please check if this is the only drive which of this model and also make sure the Smart Storage Administrator is up to date.
Thank you.

Re: SAS drive Firmware Update recommended but can't find an update
I can find a version HPD2 with a latest timestamp april 2019.
Maybe you have other drive models in your system too?
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: SAS drive Firmware Update recommended but can't find an update
Hey, thanks for the replies.
These drives are as rare as hens teeth, so the model numbers are slightly different but the specs are all the same.
Is this why it's possibly throwing the warning? Since other drives have HPD4 and HPD6? I guess all drives should share the exact same firmware in theory?

Re: SAS drive Firmware Update recommended but can't find an update
Even if zhe vrrsion has the same name, the firmware itself is different again and model specific.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
